Official Chamber Launch - December 10, 2004

Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz and Former Grand Chief Dennis Whitebird were guest speakers to a crowd of over 70 Aboriginal business owners, corporate CEOs and government supporters.

Breakfast Speaker - April 27, 2005

Former Grand Chief Dennis Whitebird was a guest speaker on the topic of the future of Aboriginal business in Manitoba. Over 75 people attended with an entire delegation from the Nunavut Chamber of Commerce.

Seminar on Procurement - May 17, 2005

ACC and the Aboriginal Business Service Network jointly organized and hosted a seminar/talk on procurement with corporations and government departments, as well as one-to-one networking opportunities with key buyers from corporations and government.

VisionQuest Conference – May 17-19, 2005

ACC bought a booth at the tradeshow and actively marketed and promoted its membership, and included the distribution of member marketing material.

Stakeholder Sessions – June 9-10, 2005

ACC discussed with IBM the need for them to bring opportunities to the north. IBM agreed and held a Stakeholder Session in Thompson on the 9th of June and another in The Pas on the 10th of June.

Corporate Networking Session - June 29, 2005

ACC organized a small networking session between corporate buyers and Aboriginal suppliers.

TCIG – July 2005

ACC bought a booth at the TCIG tradeshow/conference and actively marketed its membership products and services.

Corporate Networking Evening – September 29, 2005

ACC organized a large corporate networking evening with over 130 corporate purchasers and Aboriginal business suppliers. It was a great success with several members securing contracts/sales that evening.

Breakfast Speaker – October 18, 2005

Mike Birch of the First Nation Buying Group was keynote speaker and he spoke on the topic of 4 keys to success in Aboriginal business. There were over 50 people in attendance who took advantage of the time after the breakfast to network and do business.

President's Gathering – December 15, 2005

ACC members gathered with corporations and community organizations to network, mingle and celebrate the holiday season. At the same time, ACC and United Way raised money for a local community initiative called "Empowering Our Little Sisters."

First after Work Business Mixer of the Year! - February 21, 2006

An Informal Forum with invited keynote speakers. Honourable Dr. Jon Gerrard – Manitoba Liberal Leader, MLA, River Heights.Honourable Jim Rondeau, Minister of Industry, Economic Development and Mines, and Mr. Stuart Murray – Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba It was a great success with ACC members taking advantage of the networking opportunity.

President David Chartrand of the Manitoba Métis Federation was keynote speaker who spoke to a full room on “Economic Development. He encouraged the ACC to continue its work promoting Aboriginal entrepreneurs.

Career Fair: Grand Rapids - May 24-25, 2006

The Grand Rapids Health Authority and the Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce with the support of 15 businesses from Grand Rapids and The Pas spoke to invited youths about their business and what we need as business people. In other words we were marketing the future to our youth. The theme of our fair was “STOP Youth at Risk” and change their path in life to be “Youth with Potential.” Former students who graduated from Grand Rapids Frontier School Division and who had made it in their chosen careers, RCMP, Winnipeg City Police, Manitoba Hydro Personal, Health Authority, Nurses, MBA, Teachers, Construction Workers, lawyers, were also a part of our Career Fair.

ACC & Women's Enterprise Centre – June 1, 2006

ACC President Pat Turner attended a ˝ day session in The Pas, Manitoba.The session aimed at bringing the community together to discuss business opportunities. On June 3, 2006: in Thompson, Manitoba, same agenda. ACC was promoted at both events.

The International Indigenous Business and Entrepreneurship Conference (IIBEC) - Albuquerque, New Mexico - June 19-22, 2006

The International Indigenous Business and Entrepreneurship Conference and Expo brought together international and domestic academics, indigenous entrepreneurs and policy-makers participants who were interested and/or involved in Indigenous business and entrepreneurship.

The 2006 conference theme “Fostering Indigenous Entrepreneurship” was timely given the importance and variety of issues permeating the study and practice of Indigenous entrepreneurship on a global scale.

The conference gave participants the opportunity to share ideas, become aware of issues, directions, and trends that are filtering into Indigenous entrepreneurship globally.

The theme of the conference not only involved the academic and the practical sides of Indigenous entrepreneurship, but also provided a forum for debates beyond the session rooms.

The Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce was able to meet a variety of key representatives from the US, Canada and Winnipeg whom were attending the conference.

Millennium Library – Summer 2006

Over the summer months, the Millennium library coordinated a display of Aboriginal businesses. The ACC profiled interested members to be showcased in a display the main lobby.

ACC Board member, Darrell Brown represented the ACC - PSAB consultation meetings in Ottawa with Indian and Northern Affairs. Ongoing

The Standing Senate Committee On Aboriginal Peoples - September 27, 2006

Bonnie Sypulski, ACC Board of Director and Edward Kidd, ACC Executive Director presented to the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples. Topic - Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples to examine and report on the involvement of Aboriginal communities and businesses in economic development activities in Canada.

Breakfast speaker - October 5, 2006

Mayor Sam Katz was keynote speaker who spoke to more than 100 individuals on - Economic Initiatives that the Mayor has for Aboriginal Entrepreneurs.

MTS Aboriginal Procurement Development Initiative – October 16, 2006

Darrell Brown, member of the ACC Board of Directors, is assisting on behalf of the ACC to work with MTS to develop an Aboriginal Procurement Policy.

Presentation to the Manitoba Federal Council – October 27, 2006

ACC Board Member Darrell Brown introduced the ACC and shared its entire membership listing to every senior federal department bureaucrat in Manitoba for procurement and networking purposes.
